My opinion on “A good day to die hard”
What an incredibly awful bad sequel from the “Die Hard” series. The first “Die Hard” was groundbreaking. A film I’ve seen 300 times on VHS and DVD. Maybe it looks rather outdated now, but in those days the action was new, the humor was perfect and the coolness of Bruce was unbeatable. He continued that style in “The Last boyscout” where he almost played a replica of McClane.
Part two was a bit of a disappointment for me, but the concept remained the same. Part three was topnotch with Jackson in a terrific supporting role. And then there’s Part four. Man oh man, what an annoyance. It seemed like a superhero movie, with over the top action. And now you have this. An overcommercial let-us-quickly-fill-our-pockets-with-a-shitload-of-money-thanks-to-Die Hard-fans film.
An unreal story with McClane in Russia. It’s about a bad son-father relationship. And guess what ! In the end their relationship improved just by shooting around wildly. I felt sorry for them, because judging by the amount of bullets they’ve shot, they must have been quite exhausted at the end of the day. The amunition they had to carry must have been a mega weight.
A super complex plot. This was anything but a “Die Hard” movie : no tension, no humor, no feeling. Action? Yes, a miserably long chase … I thought it would never end. The villain was too soft. Not a die HARD. Not even a Yippie-ka-yee shout!
And I saw on IMDB that there’s a 6th movie in the making. I’m holding my breath.
Masterly quote from IMDB:
“A Good day to Die Hard” is a movie that makes you think that this day is a good day for you to die hard.
